About This Tour

This 5-mile walking tour will focus on the Eastside Trail, from Monroe Drive to Memorial Drive. This includes the southern extension, which is under construction between Irwin St in Old Fourth Ward and Kirkwood Avenue in Reynoldstown. This is an educational tour! You will learn about...

  • History of Atlanta as it relates to railroads and how this made the Atlanta BeltLine possible
  • Atlanta Beltline Project: Past, Present & Future
  • Art on the Atlanta Beltline
  • Historical landmarks including Piedmont Park, Ponce City Market, Spiller Park (Atlanta Crackers), Historic Fourth Ward Park, Krog Street Market, Beltline Hotel (new), Krog Tunnel, Atlanta Bag & Cotton Mill, Madison Reynolds General Store and more
  • The neighborhoods along the Eastside Trail including Virginia-Highland, Old Fourth Ward, Inman Park, Cabbagetown and Reynoldstown
  • Latest updates and close-up views of the construction on the Eastside Trail extension from Irwin St to Memorial Drive, including several new access points that were recently opened on the existing Eastside Trail
  • Tips on where to eat, drink and play along (near) the Eastside Trail

    * You can participate in some or all this tour. Times and stops are subject to change so please be flexible.  The tour officially ends where the Beltline corridor meets Memorial Drive. You can walk or take Uber back to Park Tavern or your final destination.

    Your Tour Guide

    This tour will be led by Steve Saenz, founder of Urban Explorers of Atlanta. Steve, who is also a bus tour guide for the Atlanta BeltLine, has led over 150 walking tours throughout Atlanta including three multi-week treks around the entire 22-mile Beltline corridor.
